My why

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” Proverbs 18:21

Words have power.

I think this is something we have all learned at some point in the course of life—whether that be from encouragement or bullying. But in today’s culture, it sure feels like death is spoken far more than life. Lies are shouted above whispers of truth. And though the whispers are there, many ears have tuned them out. I often found myself wishing that I could dent the darkness with my words. But who am I do make a difference in this vast world? It seemed impossible… Until I heard a whisper of truth.

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.” Matthew 5:14-15

Why write?

Writers have the unique opportunity to open the eyes of their readers to subjects they may never hear about otherwise. Lessons can be learned through our words. Authenticity has a way of shining through fiction, regardless of the story. I like to think of myself as a fairly transparent person, so I hope that my readers will catch a glimpse of my heart between the lines. I pray that my character—as well as my fictional characters—reflect the Father.

I don’t want to be a lamp under a basket. So, why not try to shine in an industry that’s infatuated with… Less than honorable things? In a world that’s obsessed with steamy stories, I want to write ones that have the tangible truth of God’s love.

Denting the darkness

I wrote Waves of Redemption out of the heartache I feel when I view the world. We live in a culture that glorifies immorality in every way. Sex sells, but it seems that very few stop to consider what it costs. But those of us who have done any sort of digging have had but a glimpse into the horrors of human trafficking. And I can’t keep quiet about what I’ve seen.

But how am I supposed to write about something that I’ve never personally experienced?”

“I’ll give you the words, beloved, if you give me yourself as a vessel.”

Waves of Redemption isn’t my story. Its the Lord’s. And it’s a gift to anyone who has found themselves broken and in need of healing. For anyone who has ever felt like they’re so lost, they can never be found. Because I have great news for you. No wound is so deep that the Great Physician cannot mend it. No one is so lost that the Good Shepherd won’t leave the ninety-nine to find you.

So, who is Liberation for?

Anyone who struggles with who they are. Anyone who feels like they aren’t enough. Anyone who hungers for relational depth, but shame taints their transparency. Anyone who yearns to be seen for who, not what, they are—but fears rejection. Anyone whose definition of love has been twisted by the world. Anyone who tries to work their way to holiness, but need only rest. If you have ever felt too dirty, used, lonely, insignificant, worthless, hopeless, or lost sight of who you truly are…

I wrote Waves of Redemption for you.

About S.L. Klein

From the moment she could read, S.L. Klein’s nose has been in a good book. Unless, of course, it was school-related. From mysteries to classics, fantasy to Edwardian romances, she is always looking for swoon-worthy stories interwoven with depth and hope. Through it all, her habit of binge-reading has yet to diminish.
